When did I last?

For the jobs that come round again

Remember when you last did the things that come round again.

When Did I Last? is a simple recurring life-maintenance tracker that helps you remember when you last completed household, personal, vehicle, pet and other recurring tasks — and reminds you when they are due again.

  • Pet
  • Garden

You know the bedding needs washing. You do not know whether you last washed it nine days ago or nineteen.

How it works

Three things, and the third one happens without you.

Step 1

Add what you keep forgetting

Pick from a starter pack or type your own. A name, an emoji, and how often it should come round — or no schedule at all, if you only want the date on record.

Step 2

Tap it when you do it

One tap writes today’s date and moves it out of the way. An Undo sits there for a few seconds in case it was the wrong row, and a completion can be backdated.

Step 3

Get told when it is due

One reminder on any day something comes due, listing everything due that day, at a time you choose. Scheduled on the phone itself.

The home screen

Everything that needs doing, in the order it needs doing

Overdue first, then due today, then due soon, then everything else. Each card reads as a sentence: the name, how long ago you last did it, and when it comes round again.

Nothing has to be opened to find out where you stand. What is late is late in red, what is due today says so, and the rest waits quietly at the bottom until it matters.

Ask it in words

“When did I last wash the car?”

The answer is the real item with its real dates, not a sentence about it. The question is matched against your own list on the phone: the text is not sent anywhere, and no AI service is involved.

If nothing matches, you have just described something worth tracking — so it offers to add it, with the name already filled in.

The whole history

Not just the last date, every date

Every completion is kept, newest first, grouped under Today, Yesterday and the dates before them.

That is how you find out a job you thought was quarterly has actually been happening twice a year — the gap between attempts, rather than the gap you intended.

Start from a pack, or from nothing

The first time you open it you can pick from packs of common jobs instead of facing an empty list. Every name, emoji and how often it repeats can be changed the moment it is added, and the packs are suggestions rather than advice about how often anything should be done.

Common things people track

The same list, pointed at whatever you keep forgetting.

A household maintenance tracker

Track the household jobs that come round every few weeks or months, see what is due, and record the date each time you do one.

When did I last change the smoke alarm battery?

Keep a dated record of when you last tested a smoke alarm and last changed its battery, with a reminder when each is due again.

A car service and maintenance log

A dated log of car jobs — the service, the tyres, the screen wash — with a reminder when each is next due.

A flea and worming treatment tracker

Record the date of each flea and worming treatment and see when the next one is due.

When did I last replace my toothbrush head?

Track when you last replaced a toothbrush head, and get a reminder when the next one is due.

An appliance cleaning and descaling tracker

Track descaling, filter changes and the deep cleans that appliances need, with the date of the last one and a reminder for the next.

All six, with what goes on each list

Everything else it does

The rest of what you get. All of it works today — none of it is a promise for later.

Undo, if it was the wrong one

Tapped the wrong row? Undo takes it straight back off, and the date goes back to whenever you last actually did it.

Did it on Sunday, not today

Forgot to tick it at the time? Put in the day you actually did it. The only thing it will not let you do is log something for a day that has not happened yet.

Works with no signal at all

Your list lives on your phone, so nothing ever waits for a connection. On a plane, in a basement, or with data switched off, it behaves exactly the same.

Backed up, and back on your next phone

Pro keeps a copy of your list and everything you have ticked off. Lose the phone, sign in on the new one, and it is all back.

Light or dark, however you like it

It follows whatever your phone is already set to. If you would rather it did not, pick Light or Dark yourself in Settings.

Easy to read, easy to tap

Buttons big enough to hit without looking, text that grows if you have made it larger everywhere else, and every screen reads properly aloud.

Deliberately absent

None of these are missing by accident. Each one would mean collecting more about you, or nagging you about more than you asked for.

Questions

Everything below is true of the app as it is, not of a roadmap.

What does When did I last? do?
It keeps a list of things you do again and again — descaling the coffee machine, replacing a toothbrush head, checking the tyre pressure — and records the date each time you do one. It works out when each is next due from the interval you chose, and reminds you on the day.
Do I need an account?
No. The free plan needs no account and stores everything on your phone. An account is what a Pro backup belongs to, so it is how your list and its history come back on a new phone. That is the whole reason an account exists.
Does it work offline?
Yes, completely. Everything is saved on the phone first, so nothing waits for a connection. On Pro those changes go up to your backup whenever there is internet again.
How are reminders delivered?
Your phone does it, at a time you choose, on days something is due — and tapping the reminder opens straight to the item. Nothing about your schedule is sent anywhere in order to remind you, because nothing needs to be.
What happens if I mark something done by mistake?
An Undo appears for a few seconds. Tap it and the item goes back to exactly where it was, showing whenever you last genuinely did it rather than a guess.
Can I record something I did last week?
Yes. Put in the day you actually did it and the item catches up. Adding an older date will not undo something more recent, and you cannot log a day that has not happened yet.
What does the Ask tab do, and does it use AI?
You can type a question like "when did I last wash the car" and it answers with the real item and its dates. It is not AI: the question is matched against your own list on the phone, the text is not sent anywhere, and no model is involved. If nothing matches, it offers to add what you asked about as a new item.
Do I have to use the suggested intervals?
No. The starter packs are starting points and every interval is editable the moment an item is created. Nothing in the app is professional advice about how often anything should be done.
What happens when I delete an item?
The item and its history stop appearing anywhere in the app. Deleting your account removes your items and their completion history with it.
Is it free?
The free plan is free, and it is a whole app rather than a trial: 7 things tracked, reminders, your full history, and everything kept on your phone without an account. Pro is a paid plan that adds a backup and removes the limit, by subscription or as a single payment. There is no advertising and no analytics on either, and if Pro ever lapses nothing you made is deleted.

Free, and Pro if you want it

The free plan is the whole app rather than a trial of it. Pro exists for one reason, and it is the reason you would want it.

Free

Up to 7 things tracked, reminders, and your whole history — kept on your phone, with no account and no email address.

Pro

A backup, so losing the phone does not lose the list, and no limit on how much you track — plus every Pro feature that comes later, without paying again.

What Pro costs, and what happens if you stop paying
